The Best Practices 2026 EXPO & Conference is partnering with Kansas State University to bring the Pneumatic Conveying Workshop to Indianapolis, IN, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 8 to 11 a.m. Attendees will earn three PDH credits. Pre-registration is required.

Many plant engineers, project managers and operations staff work with pneumatic conveying systems every day, yet formal training in fundamentals, sizing and troubleshooting is uncommon. This workshop is designed to close that gap.
The interactive session will cover terminology, rules of thumb, dense phase vs. dilute phase, conveying velocities and pressure drop. After these fundamentals are established, the workshop will move into best practices for system performance, troubleshooting approaches and sizing key components, including blowers, airlocks and filtration equipment.

- Case studies submitted by attendees
- Group mock system design activity
The workshop instructor is Jonathan McPherson, Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Bulk Solids Technology Center, Kansas State University. He spent 11 years designing and commissioning material handling projects as a Project Engineer and developing business relationships in the markets of performance materials, battery and general industry as an Account Executive. His project backgrounds include plastics, PVC, paint, lead-acid battery, food and confectionery.
